Emergency First Aid at Work
This course is Qualsafe Awards approved Emergency First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Designed to give the first aider, the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries or illness, and maintain care and comfort for the casualty.
The course has an emphasis on dealing with life threatening situations first, keeping the casualty alive until professional help arrives.
Students will learn a high level of practical skills and theoretical knowledge, so that they can deal competently with any situation that may arise in the working environment.
The course covers the following topics:
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- The respiratory system
- Care of the airway & the unconscious patient
- The circulatory system
- Control of bleeding
- Treatment of poisoning, shock, burns, and scalds
- Recognition and treatment of common medical conditions
- The skeletal system
- Treatment of injuries to bones, muscles and joints
- Accident reporting and First Aid at Work regulation
Who should attend this course?
Holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as first aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
