Fire Safety Awareness and Fire Marshall Training
Our fire safety course is structured as a 3 to 3.5-hour presentation that are suitable for the Responsible Person. The courses come in two parts (classroom and practical) and covers the following areas.
Classroom
- Regulatory Reform Order 2005
- Risk Assessments
- Duties of the Fire Marshall
- Fire Prevention
- Chemistry of Combustion
- Classification of Fire
- Fire Behaviour and Development
- Methods of heat transfer
- Extinguishing Methods
- Fire Extinguishers and Extinguishing Media
- Fire and Emergency Evacuation Procedures
Practical
Delegates will get to discharge fire extinguishers of the type that are applicable to their workplace and extinguish real fires.
The fire scenarios are conducted using environmentally acceptable gas fired simulators in a safe and controlled manner.
Scenarios include flammable liquid fire, bin/pan fire and TV/PC monitor. Risk assessments for ‘hot training’ are provided.
Who should attend this course?
The course is designed for the Responsible Person, Fire Wardens, Fire Marshalls, and employees.
The ‘Responsible Person’ is a:
- Person responsible for business premises
- Employer
- Self-employed person with a business premises
- Charity or voluntary organisation
- Contractor with a degree of control over any premises.
N.B. Private homes are not included unless they are a place of work i.e providing care in the community.

Tutor details
Your tutor has a background of 30 years’ service with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (formerly Gwynedd Fire Service), where he eventually served in the role of Watch Manager.
He also has more than 31 years of Aviation Fire and Rescue Service experience, achieved by devoting his spare time teaching Airfield Firefighters. He holds a CAA ‘Aerodrome Supervisors’ certificate and was the top student in this category at the International Fire Training.
